Belissima Côte-Rôtie Louis Chèze
A family property that started with just 1 Ha of Saint-Joseph and a few vines to rent, today the estate represents 45 Ha in the appellations of Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Côte-Rôtie and Vin de Pays.
At the Chèze estate, the unique characters of each parcel are preserved through sustainable practices. Grapes are hand harvested from the hillsides of Côte-Brune and Côte-Blonde. The grapes are destemmed, pressed, macerated and fermentated in low volume thermo-regulated vats with malolactic fermentation in barrels. The wines are then aged in barrels for 14 months and bottled without filtration.
The inaugural vintage was in 2006. The Belissima has a perfect balance of florality from the Côtes-Blonde and structure from Côte-Brune.

Taste: |
Garnet and deep purple hue in the glass. Notes of red berries, subtle woody spices and pepper. On the palate the wine has noted of black fruit, anise and sweet spice with underlying earthiness and truffle. This is a wine to decant and the layers of complexity are revealed as it breathes. As the wine ages there is potential for meaty notes to develop. |
