Metodo Classico Blanc de Blancs

Azienda Agricola ‘499’ was founded in 2012 by two talented winemaking professionals; Mario Andrion (winemaker at Castello di Verduno) and Gabriele Saffirio (formerly of Brovia). Located on the picturesque cliffs of Camo at the top of the Langhe, the estate is planted to 14 acres solely dedicated to Moscato and Freisa. The winery takes its name from the elevation of the vineyards situated at 499m above sea level. The cool climate here allows for the slower ripening of grapes; yielding wines with naturally elevated acidity. ‘499’ employs minimal intervention practices in both the vineyard and the winery which shows in the glass as they produce wines that are refined, full of character and vibrancy.
 
Chardonnay was planted in 2001, at an altitude 300 meters above sea level. Soils are lime stone and Guyot pruned. Grapes were hand harvested. After gentle pressing, the free run juice was fermented in Austria Oak barrels and part in stainless steel. The wine received zero dosage after disgorgment.
Taste: Dry on the palate with notes of orchard fruit and crisp refreshing acidity.
