Abat Domenech

Cesca Vicent is a unique property located in the town of Gratallops, found in the heart of Priorat. The estate is owned and operated by Francesca Vicent (Cesca), who is a fifth-generation producer. Her family has been farming grapes in this area since the 16th century. Since inheriting the property, Cesca has become determined to produce a range of quality wine that highlights the true diversity of her vineyard. She began practicing organic viticulture in 1999 and became certified in 2011. Her focus has been to produce wine with as low intervention as possible and pay upmost respect to the land.

Wine with personality, elegance, power, structure, complexity. The Cabernet Sauvignon is the predominant variety. Even though not been an indigenous variety, over the years, under the sun and the Priorat climate, the Cabernet Sauvignon has been acclimatized to the Priorat terroir and has build its own style. The best and least productive vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha and Carignan are selected for this wine.

Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Musella

Musella has its cellar and offices in a rural court of 1500 surrounded by green meadows bathed by the Fibbio stream, which was formerly used as a stable of the noble palace of the Estate. Today, in keeping with tradition and after a careful conservation restoration, it has been transformed into the cellar equipped with all the latest technologies. Each wine comes exclusively from this Estate that covers almost 400 hectares and that also offers a considerable differentiation in the composition of the soil, quality that allows us exciting comparisons.

At the winery, the cultivated grapes are arranged in a ventilated room to be dried. Through this process, grapes lose up to 35% of their original weight; this concentrates sugars, aromatics and tannins.  Gentle pressing takes place in January at a very low temperature followed by an extended maceration. The wine is aged for 24 months in French oak tonneau and then in larger barrels.  After bottling, the wine is further aged for at least one year prior to being released to market. With the biodynamic method, agriculture is in tune with nature, the land and humans. Fertilization, cultivation and breeding are implemented in ways that respect and promote the fertility and vitality of the soil and at the same time the typical qualities of plant and animal species. The deep connection with nature and the complete respect of its rhythms lead, with biodynamic agriculture, to abolish the use of synthetic mineral fertilizers and chemical pesticides, and to manage the soil following cosmic and lunar cycles.

A very classic style of Amarone della Valpolicella; full-bodied with lots of complex aromas. The fruit is dark and concentrated, black cherry, black berries, damson plum, raisins.  The fruit quality is dried and there is a dried leaf and earth quality to the wine with an underlying presence of coffee, cocoa and mocha.  A great expression of this style of wine from Veneto.

Barolo Massara, Castello di Verduno

Castello di Verduno is a beautiful old building at the top of the village of Verduno, on the edge of the Barolo zone. The Castello di Verduno wine label unites two cellars, one under the castle in the Barolo zone and the other near the famous 'cru' Rabajà, in the Barbaresco area. Wines are produced in Barbaresco then bottled and stored in Verduno. All wines are vinified traditionally by Mario Andrion: Barbaresco, Barolo, Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto d’Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo and Verduno Pelaverga Piccolo.

The Massara vineyard was purchased in 1910 directly from the House of Savoy by Cavalier GB Burlotto. The vineyard is situated at 265 meters above sea level on 1.22 hectares entirely planted to Nebbiolo. The vineyards are situated at an East/Southeast exposure and are situated on the celebrated Marne di Sant’Agata soil (comprised of 30% sand – 55% clay – 15% calcium).  Harvest is completed entirely by hand, carefully selecting the best bunches and placing them in small perforated boxes. This meticulous selection leads to the production of a wine that is powerful and age-worthy. Once at the winery, the grapes are macerated in wooden vats over a 40 day period; with the traditional splitting of the cap to continue the maximum extraction from the skins even after the end of fermentation. Aging takes place over the course of 32 months in large oak barrels and for two further months in stainless steel hands. The wine is refined in the bottle over the course of 21 months before it is released to market.

Barolo Monvigliero Riserva, Castello di Verduno

Monvigliero, one of the great historic crus of the region, is south-east facing and situated at 280 M elevation. The Marne di Sant’Agata soil (sand, clay, limestone) gives finesse and elegance to  the powerful wines produced here. Verduno’s close proximity to the river greatly influences Monvigliero; providing the ideal shift between day and night temperatures. Grapes are handpicked and carefully sorted, selecting only the best quality bunches and placing them into 20 kilo baskets. At the winery, extended maceration of approximately 35 days takes place in stainless steel and regular punch downs. Temperature is low and controlled during fermentation and only indigenous yeasts are used. The wine is aged for 44 months in Slavonian oak and 1 months in steel tanks. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration and is followed by an additional minimum 18 months of aging before it is released.

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Fornacina

Cantina Fornacina was founded in 1980 and is located on the outskirts of the city of Montalcino. Situated on approximately 5 acres of land in total, the Biliorsi family produces wine with an unwavering passion that has been passed down through generations. Fornacina is committed to protecting nature and respecting their land and in 2004, they were awarded the Certification to produce wine from organically grown grapes.

The Sangiovese grapes for their Brunello di Montalcino are harvested in the fall, between September and October, once they have reached ideal ripeness. Once at the winery, the grapes are vinified in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures. The seeds and skins are then left in contact with the juice for an extended period of maceration with periodic pump-overs. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and then is aged for at least 24 months in Slovanian oak barrels. Once the wine is bottled, it is left to age for an extended 2 years and is made available on the market the 5th year after harvest.

Château de Lauga Cru Artisan AOC Haut Medoc

The vineyard of Château de Lauga is located in the town of Cussac-Fort-Médoc, famous for its 17th century fort and surrounded by presigious appellations such as Margaux in the south, Saint-Julien Beychevelle and Pauillac in the north, and Moulis Listrac to the west. The Brun family has managed the estate for 7 generations dating back to 1846. "The love for nature and its creations, the knowledge of what gives life, the evolution of the techniques, the know-how passed, on and the respect of the tradition give our wine its quality and its richness in memory of our ancestors and for future generations." Produced for 7 generations under the successive names of Cru de Lauga then Château de Lauga, this wine is always made with passion and respect for the soil.

This traditional Haut-Médoc is manually harvested then vinified in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for 25 to 30 days then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (10 % new) with a final blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Carmenere.

Château Maurac Haut Medoc

Chateau Maurac has a deep rooted history in Bordeaux's wine region of St Estephe with a mention in 1846 in "Bordeaux and its Wines" the well known Bordeaux wine directory if its time. The vineyards used to be several plots that eventually came together as one. A breath of new life was given to the estate in 1998 by Claude Gaudin who studied and replanted the vines to suit the mosaic of soil types of the land. The focus is today is one of "simplicity and discretion". This is true for the contrast between Chateau Maurac's humble building to the grand castle like structures and a philosophy that carries through in their wine making as well.

Chateau Maurac is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. The plum-like fruit notes of Merlot are complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon's structure. Grapes are harvested and each plot is vinified seperately. Blending and the ageing length is determined by the vintage and is carefully carried out to be the best expression and union of the these two grapes. Oak is used sparingly and the resulting wine has good depth and concentration with freshness and integrated tannins.

Chateau Musar Red

The wines of Chateau Musar are a unique expression from a country with an ancient wine-making culture, as vines have been cultivated from Lebanon's high altitude Bekaa Valley for over 6,000 years. French in origin, the Hochar family arrived in Lebanon in the 12th century and have remained there ever since. Chateau Musar's red vineyards are situated towards the southern end of the Bekaa valley, north of Lake Qaroun and about 30 km south-east of Beirut. The ancient and indigenous white grapes prefer slightly cooler temperatures and are grown at high altitudes on the mountain slopes, some 1,500 metres above sea level. Every wine at Musar is produced naturally with a 'non-interventoinist' wine making philosophy and the winery was the first in Lebanon to implement organically certified viticulture in 2006 for its Chateau Musar red and white grapes.

Chateau Musar Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault from vineyards near the Bekaa Valley villages of Aana and Kefraya on gravelly soils over limestone. Planted in the 1930s, yields are small from the bush vines averaging 40 years of age. Grapes undergo long fermentations in cement vats at temperatures below 30°C. 6 months after the harvest they are transferred into French barrels for one year. When it comes time to blend, each variety is brought together two years after the harvest; the resulting blend is then placed back in cement tanks before being bottled 12 months later. Each wine is blended to reflect the character of the vintage. The wines are aged in bottle for 4 years; the finished wines are released a full seven years after the harvest.

Lapa dos Gaivoes DOC Joao Barbosa & Filos

João Teodósio Matos Barbosa founded his winery in 1997, and by 1999 the first vineyard was planted in Vale de Junco, Esperança, Portalegre. The wines were first made available on the global market in 2005, after a small production in 2004 in the vineyard of Valle de Junco. In 1997 João Barbosa purchased 22 hectares in the Alto Alentejo region of Esperança, Portalegre. In 2000, ten hectares were planted with Syrah, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonês, Trincadeira, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Nacional. Most of the vineyard benefits from southern exposure, and growing on granitic slopes, the plants are forced to compete with each other, creating a special balance. Productions vary between three and four tons per hectare, and the grapes have complexity, delicacy and minerality, all characteristics that are very present in the Lapa dos Gaivões brand.

Produced from certified sustainable vineyards located 300 to 350 meters above sea level on the south facing foothills of the Serra de Sao Mamede in northern Portalegre subregion of Alentejo. Grapes are harvested and transported to the winery in small 12kg baskets where they are de-stemmed and crushed into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.  Fermentation is carried out by natural vineyard yeasts. Aged in 225L French Oak barriques for 6 months.
