One for You, One for Your Valentine

With another holiday just around the corner we thought there would be no better time to release another exciting mixed case of wine: The Valentine’s Day Edition featuring a wine from Italy that local myth suggests has aphrodisiac qualities.  We are guaranteeing delivery in time for Valentines Day!  This Special mixed case features four bottles of each:

A fan-favourite from the 30.50 portfolio! Bright, pink and fizzy- need we say more?

This beautiful blend of Pinot Noir and Glera is sure to ignite your senses. The Charmat method of sparkling wine production showcases the freshness and bright red-fruit qualities of this wine.

This elegant sparkler is the perfect Valentine's Day Aperitif and also pairs well with oysters, sashimi and savoury appetizers.

Full-bodied, rich and complex red wine from Musella, an incredible winery in Veneto, Italy.

This blend of local grape varieties Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Barbera is produced using the Ripasso method. Characterized by its ripe, desiccated and slightly dried fruit characteristics this wine has plenty of earthiness and savoury qualities.  Start with something slow cooked and finish with a cuddle on a cold Valentine’s evening (...you may not have a choice!).

Made from 100% Pelaverga Piccolo, a grape variety exclusively grown around the town of Verduno.

Castello di Verduno is an iconic winery located in Piedmonte, Italy and is credited with saving the autochthonous Pelaverga grape from extinction in 1972. Basadone takes its name from the wild poppies that grow in the vineyards and are highlighted on the wine’s label.  The romantic play on words is that Basadone is also known in local dialect to mean “kiss of a woman”.  With 13.5% alcohol there is no wonder this light, elegant and fragrant delicacy is said to possess aphrodisiac qualities!  This wine is spicy, fresh, lively and delightfully fun to pair with many dishes. It is a great accompaniment to charcuterie boards, roasted chicken and wild mushroom risotto.f

This Special case will not arrive with Cupid himself but we are pleased to offer wine delivery guaranteed to arrive in time to celebrate Valentine's Day everywhere in Ontario.

Fattoria Ormanni Love Affair

Any Italian wine lover, when hard pressed, will confess that Chianti Classico was their first love. Like all first loves, people and tastes change with the seasons and over time.  Over the years, Chianti has seen a fair amount of change including adjustments to their strict regulations to include the addition of white and more international grapes in its make up. Chianti now appears to have hit its stride and is, again, feeling more comfortable in its own pressed skin.

Fattoria Ormanni is located just north of Siena, in the heart of Tuscany.  This is an ancient estate, involved in viticulture for over 500 years.  It is now in the hands of the Batacchi family where the winemaking is organic and done with complete respect to nature and its surroundings.  The Sangiovese grape is the heart beat of the estate.  It is the main variety of the region and Ormanni showcases its potential and quality.  All their top wines are exclusively Sangiovese from their two properties and aged for different periods of time.

95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot. Soft and super smooth red with plenty of dusty red berries and just the right amount of earth and spice.

100% Sangiovese. A step up in body here. Fruit is darker and riper. Tannins are more pronounced.  This is a Chianti Classico archetype to be enjoyed with your Wild Boar Ragu.

100% Sangiovese and aged for 24 months. This wine is made from a single, stony and south facing slope.  The grapes are harvested in the first week of October. This is a dark wine showing notes of bitter black cherry, thyme, sage and peppercorn. Long finish with good balance of acidity and tannin.

This wine is made exclusively of old vine Sangiovese and is only produced in top vintages.  It spends 3 years in big oak barrels.  Aromas of loose leaf tea, tobacco, leather and spice.  On the palate, it is quite round and smooth with a persistent finish. The ultimate expression of Ormanni Chianti!
