Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Ormanni
The 13th Century Ormanni estate is located in the heart of Chianti, between the towns of Poggibonsi and Castellinai. For the last 200 years, the estate has been owned by the Brini Batacchi family who has been producing true expressions of what the region has to offer. Paolo Brini Batacchi together with his daughter Paola run the winery today to this day. The Ormanni property spreads across 242 ha of land, 68 of which are vineyards largely dedicated to the cultivation of Sangiovese. They also own two beautiful agriturismo resorts, Podere La Querce and Podere Montignano.
Etichetta Storica Gran Selezione is Ormanni’s most treasured and celebrated wine; only produced in the best vintages. The Sangiovese grapes are hand-selected and harvested from the oldest vineyards in the area of Barberino Val D’Elsa. At the winery, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature; the wine is then aged in new oak barriques over the course of 20-24 months.

Taste: |
A pure expression of Sangiovese from Chianti Classico; ruby red in colour with slight garnet bricking at the rim. The wine is filled with tart and ripe red cherries, red plum and goji berries. The wine is notably savoury: showing roasted red tomato, tomato vine, fresh thyme and oregano. Following, are notes of sweet balsamic, tar, tobacco leaf and crushed cinnamon stick. The wine is full-bodied, dry, with elevated acid and soft, velvety tannins. |
