Pied à Terre Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon
The beginnings of this wine were driven by a simple philosophy of making great wine accessible and affordable. Richard Luftig, who started Pied à Terre with winemaker Clay Mauritson strongly believes "the farmer's footprint is the best fertilizer and the most important sight in a vineyard". Hence the name Pied à Terre, which means "foot to earth". Extensive care is taken to keep the fruit pure and ensure minimal intervention practices are followed in the vineyard. Canopy management is utilised to achieve desired results. The best wines are made in the vineyard and Pied à Terre is a true example of that.
The 2017 harvested fruit was intensely flavorful, and deeply coloured though yields were smaller than in previous years. This wine is fruit-forward, with notes of vanilla from brief oak ageing and lots of red fruit.
